Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), a prominent public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, is a group company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited. Established in 1965 as a joint venture between the Government of India, AMOCO (USA), and the National Iranian Oil Company, CPCL has played a key role in India’s downstream petroleum sector. In 2025, CPCL marks its Diamond Jubilee, celebrating 60 years of excellence in refining and service to the Nation.

From an initial crude oil refining capacity of 2.5 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA), CPCL has grown steadily to its present capacity of 10.5 MMTPA at its Manali Refinery in Chennai, reflecting technological upgradation, operational efficiency, and safety standards. CPCL has recently entered the retail fuel marketing segment, as part of its forward integration initiatives.
सीपीसीएल विविध उपभोक्ता आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए लिक्विफाइड पेट्रोलियम गैस (एलपीजी), मोटर स्पिरिट (पेट्रोल), हाई-स्पीड डीजल, और एविएशन टर्बाइन फ्यूल (एटीएफ) सहित आवश्यक ईंधनों की एक विस्तृत श्रृंखला की आपूर्ति करता है। कंपनी पड़ोसी मणली औद्योगिक समूह को पैराफिन वैक्स, हेक्सेन, मिनरल टर्पेन्टाइन ऑयल (एमटीओ), प्रोपलीन और पेट्रोकेमिकल फीडस्टॉक जैसे विशेष उत्पादों का भी विपणन करती है। सीपीसीएल का मोम प्लांट मोमबत्ती और मोम-आधारित उत्पाद निर्माण में लगी 10,000 से अधिक कुटीर उद्योगों का समर्थन करता है।
CPCL supplies wide range of essential fuels including Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Motor Spirit (petrol), High-Speed Diesel, and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), catering to diverse consumer requirements. The company also markets specialty products such as Paraffin Wax, Hexane, Mineral Turpentine Oil (MTO), Propylene, and petrochemical feedstocks to the neighbouring Manali Industrial Cluster. CPCL’s wax plant supports over 10,000 cottage industries engaged in candle and wax-based product manufacturing.
सीपीसीएल भारत के रक्षा और अंतरिक्ष कार्यक्रमों का समर्थन करते हुए एनएटीओ-ग्रेड डीजल, वज्रवेगा मिसाइल ईंधन, और इस्रोसीन जैसे कार्यनीतिक उच्च मूल्य वर्धित ईंधन की भी आपूर्ति करता है। स्थिरता नेतृत्व का प्रदर्शन करते हुए, सीपीसीएल पहला रिफाइनिंग सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र उपक्रम है जिसने औद्योगिक उद्देश्यों के लिए शून्य ताजे पानी की खपत के साथ समुद्री जल विलवणीकरण के माध्यम से औद्योगिक जल का उत्पादन किया है और इसके पास सौर और पवन से 21 मेगावाट की स्थापित नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षमता है।
CPCL also supplies strategic high value-added fuel such as NATO-grade diesel, Vajravega missile fuel, and Isrosene, supporting India’s defence and space programmes. Demonstrating sustainability leadership, CPCL is the first refining PSU to produce industrial water through seawater desalination with zero freshwater consumption for industrial purposes and has 21 MW of installed renewable energy capacity from solar and wind.
